MEET THE CHEF/PITMASTER

JEFF W. JORDAN JR.

JEFF JORDAN JR.

My name is Jeff Jordan Jr., and I was born in the small town of Cowpens, SC in the year 1980. I am married to the beautiful Mrs. Laurie Jordan, and we have 3 wonderful kids.  Elly, Hadley, and Lawson.  I have taught and coached for numerous years, but I have a serious passion for cooking.  I have been cooking competition BBQ with one of my close friends for a long while, and I have truly figured out what I am meant to do.  This is an adventure for me and my wife, and to be honest, I’m not sure where it will lead.  We are stepping out on blind faith and preparation.

I do not have any formal training, but I have spent my entire life in front of a smoker.  I know how to prep meat so that moisture will be maintained throughout the entire 12-15 hour cooking process.  The rubs I use are simple and have sweet back tones.  The sauces are 100% my own.  I have spent years working to make my sides and sauces unique.  No matter what, I will never get away from SIMPLE.

I grew up watching my grandfather, Larry Wendall Lawson, nicknamed “Chocolate,” make the best BBQ and hash that I had ever tasted.  His love for cooking and processing meat was passed on to me, and anytime I am around a smoker it takes me back to Cowpens, SC when I was a kid.  My grandfather’s passion for his craft is a huge part of who I am.  All of our BBQ is smoked low and slow, and I stick to the way BBQ should be done SIMPLE.  We let the meat do the talking.  All of my side items are heavily influenced by my mother, Penny Jordan.  Her impact on my life is unbelievable, and her skills in the kitchen are second to none.   Everything I do takes me back home, to where life was simple and the food was great.
